When Devon Wilkins moved to Peterborough a little over six years ago, she and her guide dog needed help to get oriented to their new city. CNIB was there. She needed help marking appliances in her new apartment, and learning about her newly purchased iPhone. CNIB was there. Now, Devon returns the favour when she can. She is a co-facilitator of peer support groups for people experiencing vision loss. She is also an ambassador, speaking to groups about the services that CNIB offers to its clients and the general public. As she was last year, she will be on hand to assist with this year’s fundraiser known as Night Steps.
I met Devon through New Horizons band and our flute ensemble group. Devon is an exemplary individual who faces daily challenges with a positive outlook, her involvement with CNIB and guide dogs reflects her passion to help others with accessibility issues.
Rob and I are inspired by Devon’s work in the community and proud to participate in Night Steps Peterborough. The funds we raise will be staying right here in the Peterborough area. We hope that you can do whatever you can to make this event a huge success.
