Why I Walk
Did you know that every minute, three Canadians turn to CNIB for support, advice and information? Or that CNIB has been Canada’s primary source of support for people who are blind or partially sighted for 100 years? CNIB works to support thousands of Canadians who are blind or partially sighted each and every day, with personalized services including orientation and mobility, library services, emotional support, computer training and more.
For those that don't know, my mom was diagnosed with macular degradation which has progressed to partial blindness and was born blind in one eye. Mom was always active and determined to live her life fully, unhindered by any vision loss. Through the CNIB, mom received assistance that helped her cope and transition into living with partial blindness, as well as providing a supporting and educational community. Today she is involved heavily in that community providing support for youth and those that develop vision loss.
For these reasons, I’m participating in Night Steps to help raise funds for CNIB. Please make a donation to my page and me and help me help CNIB and Canadians in our community see beyond vision loss.
