Hello and Welcome to My Personal Page
My name is Kai and I am walking to support an organization that has been supporting me since birth! I was born legally blind as a result of a rare genetic condition called Albinism. My parents and myself have always been able to turn to CNIB for support, advice, and information. Like many Canadians living with vision loss, CNIB has and continues to provide me with personalized services that include orientation and mobility, library services, independent living skills, computer training, and more. I still look back and remember the programming I was involved in as a child and the sense of community and belonging it gave me, as a well as the opportunities to meet adults with vision loss who were living full and independent lives. Now as an adult client and CNIB volunteer, I hope I can be that positive role model for children living with vision loss today.
My biggest hope is that we can raise funds so that CNIB can continue to offer much needed programming that helps children and adults live independent lives. Whether you are born with vision loss or lose vision later in life, there are challenges you face that shouldn’t be faced alone. CNIB has been the primary source of support for Canadians who are blind or partially sighted for 100 years!
I walk to support CNIB and my community, I walk to raise awareness, I walk to reduce fears and misconceptions, I walk alongside my peers and supporters who know the difference CNIB is making. For these reasons, I’m participating in Night Steps to help raise funds for CNIB. Please help me exceed my fundraising goal by making a donation to my page and help CNIB and Canadians in our community see beyond vision loss.
